Here are destinations worth your attention when it comes to winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding:
Set in Andorran Pyrenees, Soldeu is probably Andorra's best known resort, recommend for budding beginners and improving intermediates, the well developed ski resort will also tempt competent skiers to. Soldeu has a friendly atmosphere, varied skiing, a comprehensive lift system, including the new hight speed gondola from El Tarter.
This is often combined with glorius arctic sunshine to make Soldeu an ideal choice for fun-filled ski holiday. The impressive ski school and easy nursery slopes will ensure that beginners soon progress onto the wealth of long, sweeping blue runs close to resort. Intermediate and advanced skiers will have a Grandvalira pass, taking you all the way to Pas de la Casa.
Located in the scenic Wildschonau Valley, Niederau is a pretty alpine village with a friendly atmosphere. The village works well for groups, with a variety of winter activities on offer and most resort arctic holidays amenities within walking distance of the hotel.
Ideally suited to beginners, due to high standard of travel careers snowboard instructors and wide variety of runs, the ski area is the perfect confidence-building resort for novice and second to third year skiers.
The side of the complex we stayed in, the apartments are two storey. We had an upper apartment with a large balcony and great views of the mountains, towards the back of the resort.
The apartments are basic but very clean and comfortable, with all the usual facilities that you would expect ie. toaster, kettle, hob, fridge, freezer, tv etc.

After a somewhat damp spring in the UK Ben Rowley headed down to Sardinia for a taste of summer
There are two main parts to the ski area - Niederau and nearby Auffach (10 minutes by bus). Ski/board school meets in Niederau. Beginners will learn on the gentle nusery slopes next to the main gondola. More experienced skiers and boarders can enjoy a variety of red and blue runs and there are a few black arctic-like runs to challenge the more advanced.

Breckenridge has maintained its "Old West" charm combining character and a fun, friendly atmosphere with good service and amazing snow conditions. Breckenridge is a great choice for all levels of skier with beginner to intermediates gaining invaluable experience from the wide variety of gentle runs and instruction of a very high level.
Perfect for groups, there is also an array of winter activities and resort amenities that are within walking distance of the properties.
Beginners will enjoy the gentle slopes at the bottom of Peak 8 and 9 with some longer runs to test their new skills on. Intermediates will revel in the wide rolling terrain of Peak 7 and the runs atop Peak 9. For more of a challenge head out across all of the four Peaks, especially Peak 10 and the Horseshoe bowl area.

The beautiful broad sunny Val di Fassa is one of the treasures of the spectactular Dolomites area of north-east Italy. Arguably the most beautiful mountain range in Europe, the pin and orange hues of the craggy peaks change colour from daybreak to twilight. The chalets are situated in Canazei, one of the main villages in The Valley. Canazei is a lively resort and its Belevedere cable car gives access straight in the heart of the huge Dolomiti arctic cold ski area.
The complex is split into two, there is the main part, where our apartment was, which also housed the reception, restaurant and supermarket, plus a large, very cold pool and a kids pool. The other half of the complex is like a rabbits warren with lots of apartments and 2 smaller pools, one of which is heated.
